With its inviting cafés, comfy lounges, and crown-jewel rooftop terrace, ELEVEN has earned itself a reputation as a top-tier amenity floor and a beloved space for the Pru community to work, relax, and celebrate. Major renovations are arriving soon to make this all-day destination even better, and part of these upgrades has been handing over the keys to CBRE Host’s Julia Mastrangeli — ELEVEN’s new Meetings & Event Manager and the driving force behind all the events, programming, and perks that make the amenity such a success.
We briefly chatted with Julia about her new role, what events the Pru community can expect on the horizon, and more. Get to know her in this profile — you’ll be seeing her around Pru quite a bit!
Can you tell us about your role as ELEVEN’s Meeting & Events Manager?
As the Meeting & Events Manager on ELEVEN, I’m responsible for working with tenants and guests of Pru to plan their upcoming events in one of our terrific event spaces, including our three meeting rooms, our common working space, and our outdoor terrace. I also work with the Pru team to plan and execute unique tenant engagement events.
With ELEVEN under new management, are there any changes or policies tenants can expect? What’s new (or what might be staying the same)?
With CBRE Host now managing the meeting spaces on ELEVEN, we are very excited to offer greater transparency and optionality to those tenants who are hosting events in our versatile spaces. Tenants can now choose their own food and beverage provider from our list of approved vendors, each with unique offerings and various price points to best meet a variety of event needs. I will work closely with our tenants to contract the event spaces and coordinate the necessary meeting details.
What does a typical workday look like for you?
One of my favorite parts of this role is that my job varies each day! Between sales calls, outreach, and event detailing, you can find me on ELEVEN working with our team, our vendor partners, and event hosts to execute wonderful events for our tenants and guests, as well as planning for the exciting future of ELEVEN at Pru.
What kind of events can the Pru community expect in the future? What’s in the works?
I have received such a warm welcome from this great tenant community here at Pru and look forward to engaging and celebrating with more Pru tenants through our upcoming tenant outreach. Mark your calendars for our St. Patrick’s Day Brunch on ELEVEN on Wednesday, March 13th!
What drew you to a career in hospitality?
Since I was young, I have always wanted to work in hospitality. My early inspiration was my Papa, who loved his job as a restaurant manager and inspired me to pursue my love of hospitality in college and beyond. Every day in hospitality is a new and exciting challenge that drives my passion to foster new relationships and create memorable experiences for all.
What’s your favorite part about working at Pru every day?
The sense of community both in the building and the surrounding area is hard to beat! I was born and raised in the Chicagoland area, so working for a building as iconic as Pru and meeting so many wonderful tenants and neighbors really makes me feel like a part of the community – and history – of Chicago.
How often do you get to interact and build relationships with the tenants and employees at Pru?
I am making new connections daily! Working on the 11th floor is such a great way to meet other tenants in the building and other employees at Pru. Everyone has been very welcoming, and I couldn’t be more excited to contribute to the strong sense of community that already exists here.
A big thank you again to Julia Mastrangeli for taking time out of her busy day to chat with us — be sure to give her a wave and a warm welcome at Pru’s upcoming events, like the St. Patrick’s Day Brunch on March 13th. We’ll see you there!
